BLACKBAUD ADDING COPILOT Featured

Blackbaud is adding the Copilot chatbot to its products as it focuses an AI Technology.

During this week’s webcast for earnings for the first quarter ended March 31, CEO Mike Gianoni said the company “focused on generative AI and enhancements”, which were added during the quarter, that he said will improve fundraising outcomes. Specifically, Copilot will be available on the Raisors Edge and Raisors Edge NXT “before long”. For the most recently ended quarter, the nonprofit software company reported net income of $4.2 million, compared to a loss of $14.7 million a year ago. Revenue was $279.3 million, an increase of 6.7 percent from $261.8 million in last year’s corresponding period. The quarterly report also reflected the continuing cost of a 2020 ransomware incident that has caused a wave of litigation and investigations. Blackbaud has recorded pre-tax expenses of $10.3 million for the quarter, comprised by $3.3 million in ongoing legal fees and $7. million in accruals for loss contingencies. The quarter total is down from a similar expense of $17.8 million a year ago. The company has already paid $49.5 million to settle litigation brought by 49 states’ attorney generals and a $3 million fine from the SEC. It has also been ordered to delete some customer data by the FTC, which called its security processes “shoddy” but did not impose a monetary penalty and Blackbaud did not admit fault.
